International Coalition of Girls' Schools
"Whether she wants to be an astronaut, ambassador, or accountant, a girl needs to know—not just think, but really know, deep down in her gut—that nothing can stand in her way. Girls’ schools send that very message to girls every day."
To help remind families of how a girls’ school will engage, challenge, inspire, and prepare their daughters, the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools is pleased to provide this Top 10 list of reasons to attend a girls’ school, all supported by research.
The Grammar Schools Entrance Test
The entrance test for 2026 entry will be held on Saturday 13th September 2025.
There are two papers of approximately 45 minutes each.
It is likely that two sessions will be held (AM and PM) and you should therefore plan to keep the whole of Saturday 13th September free from other commitments. If the test is held over two sessions, your child will be allocated to a session, and you will receive confirmation of this in early September.
The papers will be divided into smaller, individually timed sections that test:
- Verbal reasoning
- Non-verbal reasoning
- Mathematics
- Reading comprehension/literacy skills
Children will write their answers in the test booklets and most of the questions will be multiple choice. The marks will be standardised to take account of differences in age and then added together.
In order to familiarise yourself with the test, we hope you find the following information useful:
More information regarding the test can be found here on the West Midlands Grammar Schools website.
