This year, we were excited to launch our first-ever Sixth Form Conference. The conference provided a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on their goals, develop effective learning habits and gain practical strategies to help them thrive throughout their Sixth Form studies. Our Year 12 students enjoyed a keynote address from Martin Griffin, teacher, writer and co-creator of the VESPA mindset, who shared insights into the attitudes and approaches that enable students to achieve their full potential. This was supported by engaging workshops exploring motivation, goal-setting and how students can make the most of the wide range of opportunities available during their Sixth Form experience. Students in both Year 12 and Year 13 also took part in training delivered by Made Training, in sessions on ‘Stepping Up’ and ‘Incremental Gains’. These thought-provoking sessions encouraged students to consider how small, consistent improvements and positive daily habits can have a significant impact on long-term success. Together, the sessions reinforced the resilience, independence and commitment that underpin academic achievement and commitment to a growth mindset within our Sixth Form community.

We've had a fantastic day welcoming some new and familiar faces into our Year 12 cohort into school today as part of their Sixth Form enrolment. Today they've had the opportunity to mix in their new form groups, get stuck into a creative scavenger hunt (organised by our Year 13 student ambassadors), and lunch hosted by their Heads of Houses. We look forward to seeing them all tomorrow for the inaugural Sixth Form Conference!

Enrolment marks the start of an exciting new chapter, and we look forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces to our Sixth Form community. The Sixth Form at Sutton Girls brings together motivated, curious and engaged young people in environment where they can thrive, challenge themselves and prepare for their next steps with guidance from our dedicated staff. Congratulations to Year 7 and our new Year 12 students who have successfully completed their first year at Sutton Girls. Well done to all students for their hard work and engagement in both their own learning and for their contributions to our whole school community throughout the year. We finished the year with a positive morning full of house activities, celebration assemblies and a very exciting digital reveal of the winner of the Constellation Cup. Congratulations to Phoenix, to Ursa for their Sports Day Trophy win, and to everyone for the support and contributions they have made to their House, it is fantastic to see (and hear) the House Spirit is stronger than ever! On Friday last week, 14 of our Year 12 students gained valuable work experience at the 95th English Schools Athletics Championships. As Athlete Kit Assistants, they worked behind the scenes supporting competitors, accompanying athletes onto the track and field, and helping ensure the smooth running of this prestigious event. The experience provided a unique insight into elite sport, allowing students to witness first-hand the dedication, talent, and teamwork required at the highest level. An inspiring and unforgettable opportunity for everyone involved!

Sutton Girls' Year 11 student Gabby has been named the U17 Netball Performance Leagues (NPL) most improved player for this season. Gabby is a dedicated and talented netballer who plays for Birmingham Panthers. This year she has balanced training and competitions alongside completing her GCSEs. Well done Gabby! 💜

It was our Sports Day yesterday at Wyndley Leisure Centre, and I think we've all just about recovered from the sunny celebrations! For the first time this year, we held an Opening Ceremony before the sporting fixtures began. It was amazing to see the effort, the costumes, and the sheer magnitude of House Spirit on display!

The Economics department is pleased to share in the recent, prestigious Cambridge Economics Challenge from St Catherine's College, Cambridge we entered three of our students (Sianna , Catherine and Maliah) achieved the "Mint Award" and two of our students (Eva and Isabelle) achieved the "Crown Award" for being in the top few hundred students in the country!

This morning we held our annual Careers Fair for students in Years 8, 9, 10 and 12, where we were joined by a delightful mix of universities such as University of Leeds, Oxford Brookes University, and University of Wolverhampton, plus apprenticeship/training opportunities from Deloitte, MHA, and the Royal Navy. It was a pleasure to say hello to former students that represented their current employers, as well as seeing our current Year 12 students discussing Unifrog and the VESPA Mindset with the younger years!

Congratulations to Year 9 student Chinmayi, who recently represented England in the Serbian U17 International. This is an elite youth badminton tournament held annually in Novi Sad, Serbia, recognised as a premium Grand Prix event on the Badminton Europe U17 Circuit. Chinmayi reached the finals in singles! 🌟

Phoenix House hosted their charity day today, raising an amazing £1,186.13 for the charity Read for Good who provide brand new books and storyteller visits to brighten up the days of children in the UK’s main children’s hospitals. Ice lollies were in high demand today, but our students came through for those in need! They also held Staff vs Students games, a mystery book raffle, and "pin the hair on the teacher".

Last night, our Year 11 students enjoyed a memorable Prom filled with laughter, dancing, and well-deserved celebrations. It was wonderful to see everyone looking so elegant and enjoying a special evening together. We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students for all they have achieved.
