At Sutton Girls, the Mathematics department is committed to developing the mathematical and numeracy needs of all students, whatever their chosen future path. We will deliver a challenging, ambitious and enriching curriculum. We aim to support all students to: 

• Develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts 
• Acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems 
• Reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences, and draw conclusions 
• Comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context 
• Acquire a deep and lasting understanding of mathematical concepts 
• Have mathematical confidence, independence and resilience 
• Think logically and solve problems creatively 
• Take risks in decision-making 
• Provide a strong foundation for further academic and vocational study and for employment 
• Develop skills that will support individuals to navigate and contribute to an increasingly complex and data-driven world with rigour, clarity and confidence 

Most importantly, we wish to create individuals with a love, curiosity and passion for Mathematics, a confidence to handle mathematical situations accurately and to rise to high expectations set and also to have fun along the way!
