Further Maths
At Sutton Girls, the Mathematics department is committed to developing the mathematical and numeracy needs of all students, whatever their chosen future path. We will deliver a challenging, ambitious and enriching curriculum. We aim to support all students to:
- Develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts
- Acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems
- Reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences, and draw conclusions
- Comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context
- Acquire a deep and lasting understanding of mathematical concepts
- Have mathematical confidence, independence and resilience
- Think logically and solve problems creatively
- Take risks in decision-making
- Provide a strong foundation for further academic and vocational study and for employment
- Develop skills that will support individuals to navigate and contribute to an increasingly complex and data-driven world with rigour, clarity and confidence
Most importantly, we wish to create individuals with a love, curiosity and passion for Mathematics, a confidence to handle mathematical situations accurately and to rise to high expectations set and also to have fun along the way!
