Physics
Physics at SCGSG empowers students to understand the fundamental principles that govern the universe, from the interactions of subatomic particles to the motion of galaxies. Our aim is to cultivate a deep, conceptual understanding of energy, matter and the laws that bind them, while developing confident, analytical thinkers who can apply their knowledge with creativity and precision.
We foster intellectual curiosity through rigorous, well-sequenced teaching that interleaves core concepts and revisits them throughout the curriculum to secure long-term retention and mastery. Our students learn to think like physicists: to model, reason mathematically, solve problems logically and communicate clearly using appropriate scientific language.
Our curriculum is shaped by a strong commitment to practical science. Through experimental work, including the required practicals and wider enrichment activities, students develop fluency in scientific methods, data analysis, and evaluation. Lessons are enriched by reference to historical discoveries, emerging technologies and real-world applications that help students connect abstract concepts to everyday life and future opportunities.
We are proud to offer a wide range of super-curricular opportunities, from societies and Olympiads to university preparation classes. All learners, whatever their starting point, are supported to meet high expectations and to develop the independence and resilience needed to thrive in this intellectually demanding subject.
By the end of their Physics education at SCGSG, students are equipped not only to succeed in examinations, but to critically engage with the scientific world around them and make informed, purposeful contributions to the future and world of science.
