Politics
Our aim is to inspire confident, curious, and reflective historians with a lifelong passion for the past. Through a rich and diverse curriculum, students develop a deep understanding of historical events, people, and ideas that have shaped Britain and the wider world.
At Key Stage 3, students explore history from 1066 to the modern day, learning how to think critically, use evidence effectively, and distinguish between cause and consequence, fact and interpretation. They build strong foundations in historical enquiry and communication, preparing them for more advanced study.
At GCSE and A-Level History, students delve deeper into British, European, and global history, sharpening their skills in analysis, evaluation, and extended writing. They become adept at interrogating complex sources and constructing well-reasoned arguments.
At A-Level Politics, students consider the past and present political systems of both the UK and US. This allows them to further develop their skills in analysis, evaluation and extended writing. They become adept at interrogating a wide range of viewpoints and constructing well-reasoned arguments.
Through studying history and politics, our students gain not only academic knowledge but also a broader understanding of human experience, values, and motivations. They learn to appreciate diverse perspectives, understand the complexity of change, and engage thoughtfully with the world around them. Our curriculum encourages critical thinking, supports citizenship, and equips students with transferable skills essential for future study, work, and life.
