Personal Development is delivered as a whole school programme and incorporates the following areas: PSHE, Relationships and Sex Education, Character Education, Citizenship and British Values. Personal Development aims to develop our students into responsible, respectful and active citizens. It develops students’ understanding of the world around them, their own character and how to form positive and healthy relationships with others.
There are 6 Core Themes in our programme:
- Rights, Responsibilities and British Values
- Celebrating Diversity and Equality
- Relationships and Sex Education
- Staying Safe Online and Offline
- Health and Wellbeing
- Life Beyond School
The programme is delivered through Personal Development lessons and in PD Weekly which is delivered each week by form tutors. We also use the resource ‘Votes for Schools’ which gives students the opportunity to consider current affairs and news stories and consider their opinions on them. All students vote each week and votes are submitted and compared with opinions from other schools across the country through the Votes For Schools platform.
