Celebrating Our Coach: Alfu Miah
At Sutton Girls, we take great pride in recognising the individuals who make a lasting impact on our students’ experiences, and few embody this more than Alfu Miah.
For over eight years, Alfu has been a valued and dedicated member of our PE community. Every Friday after school, he delivers a consistently high-quality badminton coaching club that our students look forward to week after week. His expertise and experience are second to none, and this is clearly reflected in the outstanding attendance figures and ever-growing waiting list for his sessions.
What truly sets Alfu apart is not only his technical knowledge, but his approach to coaching. His kind nature, approachable manner, and personalised teaching style create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all participants, regardless of ability. Students feel supported, motivated, and inspired to improve, making each session both engaging and rewarding.
Alfu’s generosity is equally commendable. Most recently, he kindly donated a badminton racket, worth £50, as a prize for a tournament winner at the club. Gestures like this highlight his commitment to encouraging and celebrating student achievement, and they do not go unnoticed.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Alfu as part of our extended school community. His passion, dedication, and positive influence enrich the experience of our students every week. We look forward to many more Fridays with Alfu and are proud to call him a friend of Sutton Girls.
