A Seven-Year Journey
A Seven-Year Journey of growth, character and success
At our school, education is about far more than examination success alone. Over seven years, our students are guided through a carefully designed journey that develops character, confidence, leadership and the skills needed to flourish in the modern world.
Each year builds upon the last — helping every student discover who they are, what they value and what they are capable of achieving. Through challenge, community, leadership and ambition, students grow into resilient, compassionate and successful young people, ready to shape their futures with confidence.
Every stage of the journey is carefully led and supported by dedicated staff who know our students well and champion their individual potential.
Led by Mrs Mahoney, the journey begins with belonging.
In Year 7, students are encouraged to embrace new experiences, build confidence and celebrate every success along the way. As they settle into secondary school life, they are supported to step outside their comfort zones, try new opportunities and become part of a vibrant school community.
Throughout the year, students begin developing resilience — learning that progress comes through effort, courage and perseverance. By celebrating achievements both big and small, students gain the confidence to believe in themselves and their future potential.
Led by Mrs Neal, Year 8 is about deepening connections and developing a strong sense of community.
Students are encouraged to contribute positively within school, becoming active participants in school life and wider community experiences. They continue to explore new interests, develop friendships and understand the value of teamwork and collaboration.
As role models for younger students begin to emerge, Year 8 students learn that belonging comes not only from being supported, but from supporting others too as they mentor year 7 students.
Led by Miss Slack, in Year 9, students use their voice and understand the impact they can have on others.
Through leadership opportunities, community engagement and experiences such as the Duke of Edinburgh programme, students develop independence, integrity and respect. They are encouraged to stay active, challenge themselves and contribute meaningfully to the communities around them.
As they continue to support younger students and give back to others, they begin developing the confidence and character that will guide them through the next stages of their journey.
Led by Miss Homer, Year 10 marks an important step towards greater independence and self-management.
Students learn how to balance ambition with wellbeing, embedding healthy habits, organisation and problem-solving skills that will support them throughout their lives. Reflection, goal-setting and celebrating personal growth become key parts of the year.
Students are encouraged to recognise that success is not simply about outcomes, but about developing sustainable habits, positive mindsets and confidence in their own ability to grow.
Led by Miss Hewitt, in Year 11, students are supported to fulfil their potential with confidence and purpose.
Through strong routines, personalised support and proven study approaches, students learn how small consistent actions lead to long-term success. Resilience and time management become essential skills as students prepare for examinations and future pathways.
Most importantly, students leave Year 11 knowing that they are capable, prepared and ready for the opportunities ahead.
Led by Mr Swanston (Assistant Headteacher, Head of Sixth Form), Mrs Conlan (Head of Year 13), Miss Logan (Head of Year 12, from September 2026), and supported by the wider Sixth Form team, this is a time where students are encouraged to look to develop the skills, behaviours and attributes to enable them to flourish as they look to life beyond the school.
Through ambitious goals, strong academic routines and opportunities to explore individual aspirations, students learn that success is built through commitment, perseverance and self-belief. The Sixth Form empowers every student to take ownership of their journeys, developing the skills, knowledge and confidence required to thrive in their chosen pathway.
As they look to their next steps, students leave Sixth Form inspired to achieve, prepared to succeed and ready to make a positive impact in the world beyond school.
Across all seven years, students develop the qualities that universities, employers and communities value most: resilience, teamwork, integrity, organisation, leadership, communication and problem-solving.
Our aim is simple: to help every student thrive — academically, personally and socially — so they leave us ready to embrace successful and fulfilling futures.
