Enrichment

Our Sixth Form Enrichment Programme is designed to extend every student beyond the boundaries of the classroom, nurturing intellectual curiosity, mindfulness and leadership in support of their own aspirations. It reflects our belief that academic excellence flourishes most fully when students engage with a broad, challenging, and inspiring range of experiences.

There is a formalised Enrichment Programme for Year 12 students, where activities are delivered via a weekly, timetabled lesson, where students can select from options including:

  • Art and Crafts
  • Active Recreation
  • Sports leaders (Level 2)
  • Ab initio Latin
  • Preparation for the EPQ programme
  • Activities in preparation for making an Early Application through UCAS.

Beyond the classroom, students can extend their learning through a variety of super-curricular opportunities. From participating in the Science Olympiad, Senior Mathematical Challenge, and Royal Geographic Society Essay competition, to exploring MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) provided by top universities, we ensure our students are equipped to excel in higher education and beyond.

Sixth Form students also lead various clubs and events, including Debating, Law, Engineering, Architecture, Diversity Dialogues, and the Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary Society. They further engage with younger students in both peer and subject-specific mentoring programmes.

Outside of super-curricular learning, many students complete their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award in the Sixth Form. This allows them to learn new skills, advance their volunteering and partake in a demanding, four-day residential expedition where they navigate challenging terrains and face unforeseen obstacles.

The wide range of opportunities at Sutton Girls nurtures each student's personal growth and academic development, empowering them to build resilience and adaptability for whichever future path they choose.
