As part of the Year 12 induction programme, our students got in the competitive spirit by participating in an Inter-form Netball competition. It was a fantastic way to start the day. Well done to winners VPA! A huge thank you to two of our Year 13 students today, Sophie and Rokhaya, for giving up their time for the opportunity to show how great their leadership skills are by umpiring in today's competition. We always appreciate our leaders and it is great to see them developing their workplace skills!

Students in Year 10 and 11 have had the their first few weeks of their PE lessons off to a competitive start with interhouse competitions in Handball and Pickleball. After a two week round-robin competition in Handball the results were: Year 10 - 1st Phoenix, 2nd Cygnus, 3rd Aquila, 4th Delphinus, 5th Pegasus and 6th Ursa. Year 11 - 1st Delphinus and Phoenix 3rd Cygnus, 4th Pegasus 5th Aquila and Ursa. Pickleball results to come!

We had a great turnout from Year 7 on Wednesday for the Cross Country trials. The successful students will be representing Sutton Girls on Tuesday at a Sutton Schools race at Bishop Vesey. It's fantastic to see the enthusiasm from the Year 7s. Don't forget, we have Cross Country Club after school every Wednesday!

It's that time of year again where we launch our extracurricular clubs with students! Almost all of our clubs are proudly run by Year 12 and 13 students, in a range of areas like Crochet and Embroidery, Law, Engineering, Bollywood and K-Pop Dance, as well as sports clubs like Volleyball and Netball.

After the sudden closure of school in March 2020 meant we had to cancel our original run of Sister Act, we are thrilled to be able to bring it back! With over 200 students showing interest in signing up, we can't wait for our revival!

This year, we were excited to launch our first-ever Sixth Form Conference. The conference provided a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on their goals, develop effective learning habits and gain practical strategies to help them thrive throughout their Sixth Form studies. Our Year 12 students enjoyed a keynote address from Martin Griffin, teacher, writer and co-creator of the VESPA mindset, who shared insights into the attitudes and approaches that enable students to achieve their full potential. This was supported by engaging workshops exploring motivation, goal-setting and how students can make the most of the wide range of opportunities available during their Sixth Form experience. Students in both Year 12 and Year 13 also took part in training delivered by Made Training, in sessions on ‘Stepping Up’ and ‘Incremental Gains’. These thought-provoking sessions encouraged students to consider how small, consistent improvements and positive daily habits can have a significant impact on long-term success. Together, the sessions reinforced the resilience, independence and commitment that underpin academic achievement and commitment to a growth mindset within our Sixth Form community.

We've had a fantastic day welcoming some new and familiar faces into our Year 12 cohort into school today as part of their Sixth Form enrolment. Today they've had the opportunity to mix in their new form groups, get stuck into a creative scavenger hunt (organised by our Year 13 student ambassadors), and lunch hosted by their Heads of Houses. Congratulations to Year 7 and our new Year 12 students who have successfully completed their first year at Sutton Girls. Well done to all students for their hard work and engagement in both their own learning and for their contributions to our whole school community throughout the year. We finished the year with a positive morning full of house activities, celebration assemblies and a very exciting digital reveal of the winner of the Constellation Cup. Congratulations to Phoenix, to Ursa for their Sports Day Trophy win, and to everyone for the support and contributions they have made to their House, it is fantastic to see (and hear) the House Spirit is stronger than ever! On Friday last week, 14 of our Year 12 students gained valuable work experience at the 95th English Schools Athletics Championships. As Athlete Kit Assistants, they worked behind the scenes supporting competitors, accompanying athletes onto the track and field, and helping ensure the smooth running of this prestigious event. The experience provided a unique insight into elite sport, allowing students to witness first-hand the dedication, talent, and teamwork required at the highest level. An inspiring and unforgettable opportunity for everyone involved!
